Public lists and safety
onelink.ninja is for sharing good links, not for spreading malware or tricking people. Here’s how we keep it that way.
Unlisted and public lists
Every list is either Unlisted or Public. You can see which on the list itself, right under the title.
| Unlisted | Public | |
|---|---|---|
| Anyone with the link can open it | Yes | Yes |
| Can be on your profile page | No | Yes |
| Can show up in Random | No | Yes |
| Shows up on Google & co. | No | Yes |
Lists start out unlisted. Unlisted isn’t the same as private: anyone with the link can open the list and pass it on. It just won’t turn up anywhere else.
Only accounts can make a list public, from the list’s edit page. Lists made without an account, or through the API, stay unlisted. That way there’s a real person behind everything strangers can come across.
Public lists must be safe for work. Anyone can land on one through Random, so no adult content.
Links we block
Every time you save a list, we check its links:
- Malware and phishing sites can’t be on any list.
- Adult sites can’t be on a public list. They’re fine on an unlisted one.
If a link is blocked, the list isn’t saved and the editor tells you which link it was. We check against Cloudflare’s filtering DNS, and only send the website’s domain name, nothing about you.
We check saved lists again once a day, because sites change. If a link on your list turns out to be malware, the list is hidden from visitors until you remove it. If a public list links to an adult site, it goes back to unlisted. Either way, the list’s edit page tells you what happened.
Note
No filter is perfect. If we block a site by mistake, email onelinkninja@nerdwerk.com and we’ll take a look.
Reporting a list
Found a list that breaks the rules? Click Report this list at the bottom of the list, pick what’s wrong, and send it. You don’t need an account, and we don’t store anything about you.
We review every report. A reported list leaves Random right away, and if it breaks the rules, we hide it.
